Sir George formally opened the new premises on the West Portway Estate of Sigvaris Britain Ltd.
The company needed larger premises to cope with expansion and moved to Andover from Winchester.
The President of the Company - Alain Berthais - and the Managing Director - Pierre Gonon - said that the premises in Sopwith Park were just what they needed, and they planned to double the size of the business in the next three years.
"Sigvaris make stockings for those with problems with their veins. The elastic in the stockings promotes better circulation. Where their product differs from that of their competitors is that it is better designed, and is a higher quality product. It is available on prescription from a hospital consultant."
"It reduces the risk of deep vein thrombosis, and helps those with varicose veins and oedemas."
The company is Swiss owned, and a small sales force is based in Andover to sell and distribute the product, which is made in France and Switzerland.
"They are very welcome here in Andover; we need expanding companies such as Sigbvaris in markets such as healthcare which are destined to grow."
