To reflect her success in building up business at Enham Post Office, and in satisfying her customers, Leslie Barry was presented with a certificate by Post Office Rural Support Manager, Colin Woodbridge.

"Many congratulations to Leslie on winning this award - and good luck to her in the next competition that is now under way."

Leslie also showed Sir George the petition she had launched, aimed at ensuring that rural Post Offices such as hers continued to get backing from the Government.

"Alistair Darling is reviewing the Rural Grant Subsidy, with new rules from next year. If this grant is cut back, there will be a greatly reduced network of Post Offices in villages such as Enham Alamein."

"The Post Office in Enham is particularly important because so many residents in the village have mobility problems and simply cannot get into Andover. A flourishing Post Office can help sustain the village shop, which might not be viable on its own."
