Sir George joined the political editor of The Times - Peter Riddell - and the blogger Iain Dale to discuss the English Question in a debate chaired by Peter Facey, of the New Policy Network.

"I put forward my policy of English Votes on English Bills; Peter thought this might have unforeseen consequences and was against it; whereas Iain saw it as an interim measure on the road to an English Parliament."

"We then had a lively discussion, with Glyn Mathias of the Electoral Commission and David Kirk of Hampshire County Council contributing. Everyone agreed that, whatever you do about Bills that only cover England, you need to devolve administration and decision-taking down to a lower level; and that the Government's regional agenda had not been a stunning success."
