Sir George opened the Exhibition of the Andover Loft Embroiderers at Andover Museum. The exhibition remains open for three weeks.
Jenny Stevens, the Museums' Curator, opened the proceedings, daying she was delighted that the embroiderers met at the museum, and thanking the museum staff for their help in putting the exhibits on display.
Sir George said that the Museum played a key role in Andover, not just hosting the Iron Age Museum, but encouraging the talents of local artists, such as the Loft Singers and the Loft Embroiderers.
"I am proud of the quality of work on display in my consituency, and impressed by the way this ancient skill has been harnessed to modern day activities - such as cartoons and abstracts. Pam Prince does a heroic job in encouraging local embroiderers and helping them develop their talents. The detail of the work on display is marvellous."
