Attending the launch of the Music with Art Weekend at Ashford Hill were he Chairman of West Berkshire Council, Councillor Brian Bedwell and his wife Mrs Mary Bedwell and the Deputy Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane, Councillor Warwick Lovegrove.

Also present were Sir Timothy and Lady Sainsbury, who live in hearby Headley, and the local vicar, Rev Lucy Thirtle.

"This was a fund raising event for St Pauls Church, with a marvellous choice of works on sale. I bought one of Jane Baikie's marvellous bowls, and admired the many paintings and carvings on view, as well as all the jewellery"

"Devina Cameron and her small committee Lin Hensman, Harrriet Jones, Bridget Tucker and David Swann have done a fantastic job over the past five years, putting on these concerts and exhibitions. This was the last Art with Music Weekend they are presenting together. I hope a new committee will take up the challenge, while the torch is still shining brightly."

Speaking as he formally opened the week-end, Sir George said the event made a statement about the church; the village; and the talent of local artists.
