For the fifth successive year, Overton Business Association organised a late-night shopping evening to coincide with the switching on of the Christmas Lights.
"Last year, Elvis Presley switched on the lights; this year, they asked the local MP"
At 6pm, Sir George switched on the lights on the Christmas Tree outside the Community centre, and then did some Christmas Shopping in the Cellar Door and other shops. Father Christmas was also present, with a long queue of children waiting for an audience.
"Keith Green, Mel Byles and Noelle Moysi did a superb job in arranging this event, which was very well supported. With the carol singers, the fairground stalls, the hot chestnuts and the mulled wine, there was a great atmosphere."

Before the event, Keith Green announced the winners of the OBA Annual Awards.
