Conservatives take seat off Labour in Basingstoke
22 Dec 2006
The Conservatives won a seat on Basingstoke and Deane Council off the Labour party in a by-election last night. In a 22.2% turnout the result was
Conservatives 332
Labour 210
LibDem 123
Green 40

"Given the precarious position on the council where, before the by-election, the Conservatives had the same number of seats as all the other parties combined, this is an important result."
