For four years, the Bourne Valley has been without the Bourne. The river, which traditionally rises in February, has been absent but it came back in January.

"December and January have been pretty wet, and it is perhaps not surprising that the river is back, earlier than tradition would indicate. Perhaps this is an indication that we could have some flooding later in the year."
