Mitchell and Butler acquired the Poplar Farm Inn in Little Ann, after it was destroyed in a fire two years ago. It re-opened with an evening in which local people were invited to have a look round.
"I was very impressed by the way the building has been restored. There is much more space inside than you would have thought by looking at the outside, and it has the right balance. You can pop in for a pint; or you can have a good meal there."
The landlady is Francesca Barker, and her husband Richard is the kitchen manager.

"It will be a characterful and comfortable country inn with nooks and crannies and modern food and a range of high quality wines. The food is freshly prepared to order. Whatever dish you choose, whether it's an old favourite like their famous Beef and Ale Pie with its puff pastry hat and coat, or something more contemporary, such as Bantry Bay Mussels, Chilled Cajun Salmon Salad, or Butter Bean & Bell Pepper Pie, they say “you will always find them prepared and served with the touches that count.” Speaking to Graham Warren, the Regional Manager, they want the Poplar Farm not only to be part of our community but “community lead”.
A manager has been appointed for the Poplar Farm, Francesca Barker who will be responsible for its day to day to running and as mentioned above Graham Warren is the Regional Manager. Both of whom are very friendly and approachable. "
