In Test Valley, the Conservatives won two of the three seats in Alamein Ward, defeating the Leader of the Liberal Democrat Opposition. "I am obviously delighted that we took two seats in Alamein, which my Party has never held before in my time as the local MP. Phil North and Janet Whiteley have been working hard in the ward for the past year, and their success shows that voters respond to candidates who take an interest, and don't take support for granted. This was also a good result for the administration that Ian Carr has led for the past four years."
"I am sorry that Jan Budzinski lost the by-election seat he won, but have no doubt that he will be back."
