George and Aurelia Young joined 200 other walkers to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. Called the Watership Down Walk, participants had a choice of 7 or 12 miles, walking around Ecchinswell, Sydmonton and Kingsclere.

"This was well organised by Katie Blake and the team from Macmillan based in Andover, and we could not have had a better day. The walk offered some great views, and we were sent on our way by Richard Adams, who lives in Whitchurch and wrote the book "Watership Down" which became a popular film."

The walk went through the Sydmonton Estate, owned by Lord Lloyd Webber and then up on to the Gallops, before coming down on the edge of Kingsclere, returning to Ecchinswell behind Frobury Farm.
"We did the shorter walk, taking about 2 and a half hours, and we both expect to be stiffer, but fitter, tomorrow."
£15000 was raised by Macmillan from this event.
