It being 2007, the theme of this year's May Fayre at Upper Clatford and Anna Valley was 007.
"Charles Crosthwaite Eyre, the Fayre's Treasurer, was a convincing James Bond, and Carolanne Bowyer was obviously Miss Moneypenny. Sadly, Ursula Andress did not emerge from the waves, but Tara Scougall, the Chairman ran an excellent fete.
The theme of this year's raft competition for children was 007. The vessels were ingenious, some being more sea-worthy than others. I expect one or two parents "helped" their children design these craft."
Another attraction, organised by Clive Spencer, was a ride round the block in a Ferrari. "I enjoyed my trip, even though Ferraris are not built for folk my height." There were children's races, and traditional events such as a sack race and three legged race "It is good to see these events being so popular in the 21st century."
Proceeds from the fete, which raised £4700, go to local organisations in Upper Clatford and Anna Valley such as the church and the village hall.
