To celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Twinning Charter, establishing links between East Woodhay and the communities of Anguerney, Anisy, Colomby-sur-Thaon and Villons-les Buissons, the Deputy Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane Cllr George Hood unvelied a new sign on the approach to the village.

"The ceremony confirmed French perception of the English weather, as it poured with rain. But spirits were not dampened and the reception in the Church Hall put us in a good mood. The East woodhay Silver Band played both national Anthems, and champagne was consumed."

"People think twinning is just for large towns and cities, but the formula works just as well on a smaller level. I enjoyed talking to our French friends, who are preparing themsleves for a general election next month. Moyra Harkness, and her team on the East Woodhay Twinning Association are to be congratulated on organising a very enjoyable occasion."
