Sir George opened Shipton Bellinger's Annual Village Fete, raising money for local organisations - or for individuals in need.

"John Hughes, Helen and Roy Batterby and their team put on another great event. It was good to see 6th Battalion REME there, running a popular assault course for children - and the Phoenix Brass Band gave the occasion atmosphere."
A six-a-side football tournament took place during the day, organised by Charlie Wiltshire. "This brought a large number of parents to the Fete, pushing up the takings."

Other attractions included a Taekwando Demonstration and the Sarum Morris Dancers.
