Sir George opened the annual school Summer Fayre at St John the Baptist Catholic Primary School in Floral Way.

"The Fayre is the main fundraising event for the Parents' Association, and this raises much needed funds for the school. This year, the Parents' Association is aiming to raise enough money to provide the children with outdoor learning and recreational equipment. Last year over £3,500 was raised in the Summer Fayre and the school hopes to do as well this year."

After opening the Fayre, Sir George watched the Philippine Dance Group perform a traditional dance, before meeting some of the stallholders, including the face painters.

"Cathy Rollo, Dave Phillips and the team did a fantastic job in putting on such a well organised fayre, and they were blessed with excellent weather. I know they will have raised a useful sum for the school, and given everybody a very enjoyable time as well."
