Icknield School in River Way, Andover held a Grand Evening of Celebration, marking achievements by the students in the academic year that is just ending.
"This was also an opportunity to say farewell to Stephen Steer-Smith who has been Headteacher at the school since 1985 - having spent his entire career as a teacher, deputy head and headteacher at the school."
At the event the Chair of Governors, Rosemary Wilson, and one of the trustees Geoffrey Wiseman paid tribute to Stephen's work in building up the school and running it so successfully.
"Talking to staff, parents and students, there was a remarkable affection for Steve who will be much missed at the school. I was delighted to hear that he is going to keep up his connections with the school - having recently joined the PTA - and he is also going to be involved in fundraising for a number of projects in and around Andover."
Also at the event was local County Cllr Pat West. They met one of the students who was leaving, Lucy Thomas.
