The STOP Campaign gathered momentum as residents from Andover and the surrounding villages protested peacefully by driving round the airfield in cars decorated with balloons and posters.
Over 100 cars took part, with many more coming to Macadam Way to see the protest off, and with others waving support from along the route.
"This must have been one of the biggest protests Andover has seen for a few years. It was good-humoured, and the organisers did well to ensure that the message got home, but without causing anyone inconvenience. Cllr Phil Lashbrook played a key role at the junction of Monxton Road and Red Post lane to ensure we all turned right safely."

Sir George paid tribute to the organisers. "Rhonda Smith, Marc Catchpole, Katrina Saville, Ian Marshall, Peter Jopling, Peter Derbyshire and many others got the word around, ensured a good turn out, arranged a sensible protest and got both local and regional coverage. A great effort."
