The Allan Gardiner Unit at Andover Hospital formally opened its new sensory garden, when Sir George cut the ribbon.
"It was generous of the HSA and the League of Friends - and many others - to put up the money for this splendid addition to the Unit. A garden that can be enjoyed through the sense of touch and smell will be of real benefit to those who have lost their sight - and the raised flower beds make the plants accessible to those in wheelchairs."
Also present were the Rev Ann Mackenzie, the Unit's Chaplain, and Marie Critcher from Willow Court next door.
