The Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal got off to a good start, thanks to Anthony Church, Town Crier of Banbury, Chipping Norton & Banbury.
He exhorted shoppers in the High St to buy their poppies, and there was a great response.
"Our armed forces are very much in the news, and people wanted to support the work of the British Legion in helping the families of those who have come back from active service and need extra help."
