Sir George officially opened the new premises of Greenacre Pre-School in Tadley.
"The last time I visited Greenacre, they were in their old building, having to share many facilities with Bishopswood School. Lindsey Vincent, the Manager, has negotiated a new lease from Hampshire County Council on another piece of land, borrowed £100,000 from the Charity Bank, got funds from the local authority and put in £10,000 raised by the Pre-School. They now have a spanking new building, with more space and are entirely self-contained."

The Pre-School is oversubscribed, with 75 children spending some time there during the average week. "This is a very popular, happy and successful facility, with good links with the neighbouring Infants School. Lindsey deserves an enormous pat on the back for driving this project forward."

The Sir George at the ceremony were June Follington and Carol Young, who started the pre-school originally in 1981 in the then unused temporary classroom at the infants school.

While he was there, Sir George presented Lindsey with a certificate from the Pre-School Alliance.
"This certificate is the Stage 3 of the Pre-School Learning Alliance "Aiming for Quality" Accreditation. This is as high as you can go with the Alliance. They also had a good OFSTED report earlier in the year."
