Sir George condemns A303 decision
6 Dec 2007
Speaking in the House of Commons, Sir George told the Transport Minister he was disappointed that the A303 Stonehenge Improvement Scheme had been abandoned.

"When I was Secretary of State for Transport, I spent some time on a scheme to widen the A303, and to provide a better setting for Stonehenge. The scheme I bequeathed to my successor has now been abandoned, and there is nothing in its place"

Sir George told the House that the A303 was dual carriageway from the M3 to the Amesbury Roundabout, and shortly after that it became one lane.
"There is regular congestion on this part of the road - a strategic link to the South West. It is incredible that the Government have no proposals at all to deal with this."
