There was an early start for Sir George, when he visited his local Sorting Office in Andover at 6.30 am.
He met the Delivery Office Manager, Glen Wright and the postmen and women who deliver the post in Andover and the surrounding villages.
"The internet and mail order has clearly had an impact, with many more parcels being delivered. And although the Christmas rush was still building up, they were all clearly very busy."
Sir George met his own postman, John Gilmore and saved him a short journey by collecting his post for the day.
"We get a marvellous service from John in the village"
Sir George met nearly all those who work in the sorting office and thanked them for what they did, year in year out.
