The Chairman of Andover Young Carers, Per Sabroe, and the Project Manager, Lorena Burlison, invited the Editor of the Andover Advertiser and the local MP, Sir George Young, to The Project's Christmas Party at the Churchill Bungalow, Admirals Way.
The Advertiser's Parent Company and Simply Health presented cheques for the Project, which supports young people who are also carers.
AYC offers a Home Work Club each Monday afternoon, and After School Clubs on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
"Lorena joined the team in April, and is supported by two qualified activities workers, plus a number of dedicated volunteers."

The project meets in a bungalow rented from Test Valley Borough Council, which has recently been redecorated. It has been supported by Children in Need, Hampshire's Children Fund and the Big Lottery.

"AYC provides invaulable support for young people - many still in education - who are also carers. The project goes from strength to strength and each time I visit, there is a fresh initiative. Joe and I challenged the home team to a soccer game, and we blew the final whistle when we were 2-1 ahead".
