Every year RADAR encourages its members and disabled people across the coutnry to meet their local MP's, to discuss both local and national issues that affect them as disabled people.
In February, Sir George and Maria Miller, MP for Basingstoke, met the Basingstoke Access Group, led by Julian Thomas, at the Civic Offices in Basingstoke.
RADAR supply all participants with a briefing pack outlining key national issues, and so far this year 25 MP's have taken part in the scheme.
A report on this year's scheme was launched at a reception held at the House of Commons, sponsored by Royal Mail & HSBC, and hosted by Sir George. At the reception, MP's were given the 3rd Edition of the MP's Guide on Disability - a practical guide explaining how MP's can make their meetings, events and surgeries accessible for disabled people, giving information on meeting people with different impairments, and updating MP's on disability legislation.
One of the speakers at the event was Julian Thomas who has lost his sight and who summarised the meeting held with local MP's.
