After being introduced by the Master of Ceremonies, Jeremy Goad, Aurelia Young opened the May Fair at Hurstbourne Priors, held by tradition on the May Bank holiday. She praised the Chairman of the Fete Committee Helen Mehaffey for organising the event, which featured the Dave Barry Duo providing live music; May Pole Dancing; a Juggler and Workshop and a demonstration by English Longbow Archers.

"The weather cleared as the Fair opened and there was a great range of goods on sale, as well as an art exhibition. And of course the ever-popular beer tent."

The funds raised from the Fair go towards St Andrews Church, the Village Hall and the Recreation Ground.
