The Annual Forum was held by the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty at the Fieldgate Centre in Kingslcere, where delegates were welcomed by Parish Council Chairman Peter Woodman.
The theme of the Forum was "Working Together for the North Wessex Downs" and it was chaired by the Chairman of the AONB, Sir Charles Nunneley.
David Carman, Chairman of the AONB Executive Committee, gave a rundown of achievements in 2007/8, and then there was a talk by the Deputy Chairman of Natural England on their role in the AONB. There were then two sessions, one on Parish Planning for Sustainable Communities and another on Arable Conservation in a Downland Landscape, before the Forum broke for lunch.
After the morning session, visits were arranged to nearby Beacon Hill, and to Grotto Copse on the Highclere Estate. other delegates went on a Kingsclere Village Walk.
"This was a very worhwile Forum, well-organised by the Director, Fiona Newcombe. the number of delegates attending showed there was a real appetite to drive up the qaulity of life in the AONB."
