Many local sport and physical activity organisations were involved in the second ‘Get Active’ Sports Fair held on Saturday 5th July 2008 in Andover’s Vigo Road Park.

Organised by Sport Andover and Andover Live the aim of this free event was to build on last year’s massive success when 4000 people attended. The aim of the event was to raise awareness of local sporting, health and physical activity opportunities offered by voluntary sports clubs and physical activity providers and to increase participation levels along the way.

"There were plenty of activities, have-a-go sessions, competitions, demonstrations and chances to discuss techniques and tactics with a range of experts. So whether people like to bully-off, scrum down, tee-off or take your marks then there was something of interest"

"I looked in on a number of of local clubs that were there during the day - Andover Tennis Club, and the Andover Wheelers. They were inviting the passing trade to see how far they could go on a bicycle in a minute. I think my result was in the middle of the field."

"I very much welcome this event, which raised the profile of sporting activity in the town. All the stands I visited reported a good response, and I am sure this is good news for the town's waistline."
