Continuing his visits to firms in the constituency, Sir George visited United Shield International on the Walworth Estate in Andover, at the invitation of Managing Director Terry Hand.

"This company sells protective equipment to police forces in the UK, and to armed forces overseas. They operate in a competitive market, and are doing well to increase their turnover."

Sir George saw helmets being manufactured on the site, together with other protective equipment . The firm moved out of London four years ago; many employees are tailors from Ghana.
"The company is supplying the Afghanistan army, and is winning orders in Africa. What they sell is protective, rather than attacking equipment, and of course they need the appropriate export control licences to do this."

Edmund Simpson presented Sir George with a personal bullet proof vest.
