Sir George formally opened the new Study Support Centre at Winton School, and talked to the students who were using the 40 workstations to complement the work they were doing in their classrooms.
"I think Chris McShane, the Headteacher, and his team are making excellent progress in raising standards and expectations at the school and I pay tribute to their achievements."
"This new resource has been installed in what was part of the library, and it enables the personalisation of learning to make further progress. It should also enable the school to save some funds, as there will be one study manager in charge at some times, instead of several supply teachers."

Sir George talked to the students, who were translating words and phrases into a number of foreign languages, including Shona and Arabic. He also met the recently appointed student leaders, and teachers and governors. He also saw the monitor, which enables the study manager to ensure that the students don't stray off the beaten track when they are on line.
