Whitchurch Parish Hall is over 100 years old, and has recently been closed for refurbishing work. It was formally re-opened by Sir George Young, the local MP.

"Gill Webb and her team on the Parish Hall Committee have invested £14,000 to give the hall a new floor, to redecorate the inside entirely, and to refurbish the WC's. £2000 came from County Councillor John Maxwell's Community Chest. £500 came from Whitchurch Town Council, there was £8000 in reserves and the rest was raised locally."

Sir George looked at plans for an ambitious longer-term project to bring the hall entirely up to 21st century standards, which would cost several hundred thousand pounds.
At the opening was the Mayor of Whitchurch, Peter Williams, Borough Councillor Keith Watts, County Cllr John Maxwell and Parish Hall Committee Member Bill Judge.
