The Test Valley Baton leaves Penton on its way to Appleshaw. As part of the Millennium celebrations, the baton is passing round all the villages in Test Valley. Children from Penton Sunday School congregate round the baton with Rev Ray Whettingsteel, Rector of Penton.
The event was one of many to celebrate Penton Millennium 2000 Funday. Starting with a Thanksgiving Service on the Cricket pitch, it continued with unveiling the Millennium Stone and a cricket match between Penton Mewsey and Penton Grafton.
