In 1984, Brian Wall was asked to stand in for Angela Hurley, the regular organist at North Waltham Church. In 2009, he completed his 25 years in the post, playing regularly at services, weddings, funerals and choir practices.

His work for the church was recognised at the end of Family Communion when the Rector, Michael Kenning, presented him with a framed letter from the Bishop of Winchester thanking him for all he had done, and there was a party at the end of the service.

"Brian's grandchildren were there to take part, and the choir sang an anthem written by Brian's grandfather, H Cromwell Wall, thereby linking five generations. Brian is an accomplished musician, and the village is enormously fortunate to have him."

With thanks to Terry Woodfin for the photos.
