Sir George and Lady Young spent Friday afternoon at Andover Hospital with the League of Friends. They were shown round by Susie Thornely (seated left), the Volunteers Co-ordinator, and Glynis Hunt, non-executive Director of the Winchester and Eastleigh NHS Trust, (standing behind her.) Lady Young is President of the League of Friends of Andover hospital.
“We were both enormously impressed by the work of the Friends in the hospital and the good relationships with the NHS employees. The volunteers who work with the League enable the hospital to provide a higher quality of service and, because they know local people and the area, make it feel informal and friendly. The volunteers also clearly enjoyed what they are doing.”
“We saw examples of equipment and facilities funded by the League, and were delighted to hear of the record takings at the recent Fete. The League needs more volunteers, so I hope anyone interested will contact Mrs Thornely at the Hospital.”
