House adjourns out of respect for Ivan Cameron
25 Feb 2009
A number of constituents have already emailed Sir George, asking him to pass on to David Cameron their sympathy at the loss of his son.

"My thoughts are very much with Samantha and David at this difficult time. I saw the family on holiday in Devon recently, and David spent an enormous amount of time with Ivan on the beach. David would lie down and put Ivan on his tummy and talk to him, and there was tremendous love and affection between the two of them. Ivan went wherever the family went - they were a happy and cohesive family, despite all the problems of caring for him."

The House of Commons abandoned Prime Minister's Questions and adjourned for 30 minutes. "The Prime Minister and William Hague caught the mood of the House with their tributes. The Prime Minister has gone through this trauma himself, and was clearly moved by what had happened to his political opponent."
