Shadow Health Secretary Andrew Lansley spent half a day in North West Hampshire, visiting first North Hampshire Hospital in Basingstoke, and then coming on to Andover.

In Andover he met Mike Gretton, Chairman of the Winchester & Eastleigh NHS Trust who run the hospital, and Dr Kevin Stewart, the Trust's Medical Director.
After going round the hospital, he met GP's from the Adelaide Medical Centre and from Charlton Road Medical Centre, which is on the same campus as the hospital.
He then went round Willow Court, a nursing home run by Hampshire County Council with County Councillors Pat West and David Kirk.

"Andrew was interested to see so many different facilities all on the same site - a hospice, a GP Health Centre, services provided by the Hampshire Partnership Trust, Willow Court Nursing Home, as well as all the facilities of Andover War Memorial Hospital."

"The discussion with the GP's was very productive, covering the new contract and out-of-hours service, the development of commissioning by GP's, and promoting more choice between Health Centres by patients."

"He was impressed by the partnership between the NHS and the County that led to the construction of Willow Court next to the hospital, and spoke to staff and residents."
