As part of Tadley's annual Environment Week, the Fair at the Ambrose Allen Centre focused on energy, waste, water and food. A number of organisations attended the event, including the Environment Centre, Tadley Allotments, Tadley Country Market, Basingstoke Furniture Project and the Fair Trade Project.

"Tadley's allotments are now fully taken up, with a waiting list. At £8 a year, this is a real bargain, and I enjoyed meeting Vikki, the Allotment Warden and Ann McSteen, one of the Trustees. They give advice and help to those taking on an allotment, and make sure that the plots are in good shape." Also at the stand was local Councillor, Rob Musson.

Another stand was manned by the Basingstoke and Deane Fair Trade Steering Group. "Carol and Sammy Armstrong told me that Basingstoke and Deane hoped to become a Fair Trade Borough, which means that a certain percentage of shops stock Fair Trade products."

Also at the Fair were local councillor David Leeks and county councillor Marilyn Tucker, and Town Councillor Jo Slimmin.
