Pupils at Ashford Hill Primary School gave Sir George 77 cards for the Prime Minister, urging him to keep his promise about education for children, particularly those in developing countries.
"This was part of the Big Read campaign and I was delighted that the children at Ashford Hill were taking part. They read out their letters, saying in their own words what education meant to them, and reminding us of the problems faced by children in many African countries. They wanted politicians to do more to help"

"It was a very moving half hour, at the end of which they sang a song about the campaign."

Sir George was looked after during his visit by two school councillors, Kelly and Gregory; and the Head Teacher, Susan Watson, introduced the event.
