A team of 30 people from Barclays Commercial Bank and their Retail teams in Andover, Basingstoke and Reading carried out a painting project for the Enham Trust in Enham Alamein. They painted the walls and doors of the lounge area, reception area and corridors to the bedrooms of Alexandra House and supplied new blinds for the lounge, settees and replaced some of the lights.
"This was a marvellous project for Barclays to undertake, and what was great was the support they have been able to get from other local companies. Steve Mills, one of the Barclay's Relationship Managers has got agreement from his customer, Wakes Decorating Ltd, that they will paint the ceilings of the lounge, reception and corridors at no cost; and David Abbott, the Relationship Director has been given a very large free Television from his customer Smithie UK, for the charity."
"The corridors in Alexandra House are quite long, and it looked as if two coats of paint would be needed. Liz and Kelly from Enham were hard at work in the kitchen, making sure the workers were well nourished throughout the day."
"Many of the residents go to Andover during the day to shop, so it was a good day of the week to chose for the redecoration."
The day was part of the bank's employee volunteering project; every employee can take at least two days off a year to take part in volunteering, and the bank's group employee volunteering grants enables the team to buy materials to make the projects happen.
