St Mary's Church in Kingslcere held a Festival of Flowers in aid of the Keystone Project.

The Keystone Project is a fundraising venture to raise money to improve the structure of the church. £70,000 has just been spent on the boiler, and the next project is to improve the Kingsmill Room, to make them more suitable for community events.

"There were 51 marvellous flower arrangements, each one sponsored, in order to help raise funds. The main sponsors were Julian Jones of Wolverton Plants, Howe & Son and De La Rue. Denise Allen, the Festival Designer, did a fantastic job with her arrangers, and it was good to see the Mayor of Basingstoke at the event and the Rev Lucy Thirtle after the successful birth of her son William. The Social Committee and all their helpers put on some good refreshments, and Hazel O'Leary arranged some splendid musical interludes. The event was very well supported by local people, and it will raise a useful sum towards the hundreds of thousands of pounds that are going to be invested in the church".
