Last year's Treacle Fair was washed out in June, and had to be re-held in September. But this year, it was held on the hottest day of the year so far.
"Colin Gifford and his fellow-Lions did a fantatstic job putting on a day's entertainment at Saunders Field, and they will have raised a useful sum for Naomi House, and other local causes."
The arena events included Working Gun Dogs and a Mountain Bike Stunt Show. The Hook Eagle Morris men danced outside the Real Ale Festival Beer Tent, run by the Pelican Inn from Pamber Heath. Reading Lions had a giant caterpillar as part of the entertainment for younger children, and AWE sponsored a Rock Wall Climb.
The Fair was opened at 11am by the Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane, Cllr Brian Gurden.
