Dr Pat Bassett, who has practised in the area for 30 years, said good-bye to many of her 2500 patients who came to the Village Centre at St Mary Bourne for a farewell party.
Alan Marsden, former Chairman of the Parish Council and one of her patients, paid tribute to her professionalism and popularity in the Valley, and said how lucky everyone was to have such a high quality practice. He told those present that she had been hand-picked by her predecessor, John Evans, who had chosen well.
Dr Bassett paid tribute to those who had worked with her at the practice and said she had been fortunate to have such wonderful people to work with. She also thanked her family for their forbearance with her at times anti-social hours.
Canon Martin Coppen proposed a toast, and Dr Bassett was presented with a picture of herself in the surgery, painted by Mrs Hubbersty.
