Andover Churches Together held their second Family Fun Day in Vigo Road Park.

It was opened by Deputy Mayor Chris Lynn and Sir George Young, and organised by Chris Lawton. The Chairman of Andover Churches Together for this year is Rev Andrew Ashdown.

In his opening remarks, Sir George said the town was fortunate to have such active churches. "The Churches run the Food Bank, which brings welcome help to families struggling to make ends meet; they have just opened The Revolution - a drop-in cafe for young people; and they run a project for homeless people at The Bridge - with recently extended opening hours. And now they are running this family fun day - where everything is free. It is an opportunity for everyone to put their cares behind them, and enjoy a day out with friends and family."

There was a climbing wall, a free barbecue, live music from a series of bands and a wide range of other attractions.
