Thruxton Village held its Annual Fete, organised by the Thruxton Village Association under the Chairmanship of Richard Ward.

Proceeds from the fete are ploughed back through cash grants to local community groups. Beneficiaries in the past have included the Three Villages Sports Trust, the WI, the Gardening Club, the Church, the school and the Village Hall.

"The village has benefited from a grant from Community Action Hampshire, with which they bought a skittle alley, a candy floss and a popcorn machine. These, in turn, raise revenues and were all in action at the fete."

At the fete with Sir George was the newly re-elected local county councillor Pat West with her grandchildren
