Shipton Bellinger ended its Fete Week with a fete on the Village Green, opened by the local MP Sir George Young and running from 2 to 5pm. Events during the week included a Scarecrow Competition (for scarecrows in front gardens); Rounders for all the family; and an Open Garden Day in aid of RNLI.
"John Hughes and the team have organised a great day, with a Junior 6 a side football tournament, Punch and Judy, and a new innovation "The Good, the Bad and the Box"
This is a theatrical production for an audience of one, who sits in an enclosed box. Flaps are opened sequentially, to reveal the action taking place outside, which is a spaghetti western.
Castledown Radio provided the music, and Sir George did an interview with John Sparrow. Signatures were being gathered for allotment plots in the village and the beer tent and the hog roast were very popular.
