A farewell lunch was held at Ashmansworth Village Hall, so the villagers could say farewell the local rector, Tim Horsington who retires at the end of the following week.

"Alan Rowe, one of the churchwardens, organised this event with a lot of help from mothers, to bid goodbye to Tim and Liz. It was marvellous to see their son Guy, and their daughter and her husband with the newly born granddaughter."

The Rev Tim Horsington was presented with a picture of St James's Church, Ashmansworth, a church dating back to the 12th and 13th centuries.

"Many of those who had left the village during Tim's time as rector came back to say goodbye, and it was a very moving ocassion. In accordance with the best of traditions with Tim, he told some of his famous jokes at the end of the event."
