Vernham Dean Playing Fields Association held the annual village fete, which was opened by the Vernham Dean choir singing a song whose words were written by Caroline Willis, to a tune written by her father.

"This was a welcome innovation, that got the event off to a good start. It was followed by the Winchester Morris Men, and then a gun dog display.

"This was another well organised event, well attended by the village and those from further afield, raising money for local organisations. The village is fortunate to have such a large site for its annual fete, which enables it to host a large number of events."
