A farewell lunch was held at Oakley Hall to say farewell to Brian Hutchison, Group Chief Executive of Wessex Housing Partnership, who retired at the end of June. Mike Thompson, the outgoing Chairman of the Group made a speech about Brian's career in housing, which covered working for three large London local authorities, masterminding the stock transfer of Basingstoke & Deane's council housing, and then included being Chief Executive of Kingfisher since its inception in 1994. He became Group Chief Executive of Wessex, a new housing group in 2006 and the Group has built over 200 new homes and invested some £15 million in housing.

"I have the greatest respect for Brian, who is a housing professional and who has seen the staff grow to over three hundred, and hands over a first class operation to Anne Santry, the Chief Executive of the new Group now that Wessex has amalgamated with Sovereign Housing Group, based in Newbury.

"Brian has given tremendous leadership, and he will be much missed locally. We wish him a long and happy retirement, developing his interest in vintage MG C sports cars".

At the farewell lunch were Cllrs Paula Baker and Gerry Trainer, and current and ex-board members of Kingfisher.
