Sir George opened the Annual Summer Fayre at St John the Baptist Roman Catholic School, congratulating them on the money they had raised in past years which had helped build an adventure playground for the Infants; and urging those coming to the fayre to dig deep in their pockets so an adventure playground might be constructed for the Juniors.

"This is a very popular school, which is fortunate to have a very active PTA who raise so much funds. This helps improve the quality of education at the school and it is a real pleasure to be back at the fayre."

Sir George invested some tickets in the raffle to win a go-kart, and looked in at the origami stall. Another stall was selling traditional food prepared by families of seven different nationalities - reflecting the diverse intake of the school. Also at the fayre were the Andover Police, Andover Sound, and a wide range of events took place during the day.
