To celebrate Inside Housing's Silver Jubilee, their panel picked the 25 most influential people in housing over the past 25 years. One of those selected was North West Hampshire's MP, Sir George Young.

"I greatly enjoyed being a Housing Minister from 1981-86, and then again from 1990-1994. I made an enormous number of friends, and during the time I was in the Department, we made progress with improving the nation's housing stock, and building many new homes. I have enjoyed keeping in touch subsequently and was delighted to have been made an Honorary Member of the Chartered Institute of Housing. There are many challenges lying ahead if we are to provide families with the accommodation they need."
