Sir George responded to an invitation from the Andover PDSA charity shop to drop in during 'Lend a Paw' Week.
Amy Hazzard, the shop manager, asked Sir George to join her and her team of volunteers for an hour of 'speed volunteering'.
"I got a whistlestop tour behind the scenes, and learnt how to sort the goods that were brought in, and how to label and price them. I met a number of volunteers who generously give their time to raise funds for PDSA, and I met a number of constituents who were bargain hunting in the shop".
"I was interested to learn that PDSA can claim back, through Gift Aid, the value of goods that are donated, so long as the donor is a taxpayer and registered".
This was the leading veterinary charity's first ever 'Lend a Paw' week, aiming to encourage people who have never before considered volunteering to take part in taster sessions at their local PDSA shop.
